In October last year I decided I needed a change - Office work wasn't cutting it! So one day while sitting at my desk looking at interior design blogs I had a crazy idea - I decided I wanted to get into Upholstery. I tried to upholster an old cinema chair earlier in the year and had a lot of fun doing it - the results however were really awful!
So I sent out a letter to all the upholsterers I could find in Brisbane asking if they would take me on. Long story short I got a call to come in and meet a guy, who surprisingly offered me part - time work on the spot!
Since then I have had a lot of fun learning from the 2 guys I work with. They even let me bring my dining chairs into work for them to help me with. I am beyond happy with the end result and hope that soon I will be able to do a lot harder items on my own!

Belated Christmas Post
This Christmas I decided to get crafty - Christmas decorations can be so expensive and our tree and house needed more festive fun in it:
Firstly the Christmas tree needed more decorations so I bought some glass ornaments - I filled half with coloured nail polish to create this effect:
The second lot I put sequins in:
We have never had a wreath on our front door either so I decided this was the year we were going to have one. I just used a round hoop (preferably wire) and strips of fabric which are just knotted onto the hoop. I had a heap of left over fabric from out wreath so I made one for my parents and one for my sister!
Results:
Our piano needed something christmasy on it so I pulled some sticks out of our yard, sprayed them grey and put them in my owl vase with some old Christmas decorations hanging off them.
And lastly - instead of buying gifts for all the family I had a baking day and gave everyone little Christmas goodie bags!
I was a very lucky girl on Christmas day! Jonny gave me this beautiful cushion I have been drooling over since last Christmas - Isn't it beautiful!
BTW: This is our Christmas tree :)

Master Bedroom Take 2!
So the last week and a half I finally did up the master bedroom (for the second time). It was a total pain in the ass but I'm so happy with how its turned out. I have done it up as a surprise for Jonny - he hasn't seen it and doesn't even know what colour I have painted it!
So here it is, the final reveal!

Time for Change
I have just started re-doing our bedroom. I forgot how much I hate prepping before painting - especially our windows! Prepping windows is my biggest hate in the world!

Updates
I haven't posted anything in a while - I have been slack. Im not working at the moment and have just been waiting on Jonny to come back from the mines so he can help me with my end of the attic so when he goes back I can paint it (painting the attic is the worst job ever - I'm trying to rope mum into helping because she is on holidays soon too)
Here is a few pics of what's been happening:
I did up the old wire chair we have sitting on the front deck - Jonny and his brother pinched it from their neighbours house when they were still living at home. We changed the fabric on the chair but since then being out on the weather it fell apart!
On the weekend I also came across another owl vase - I had to have it!
Isn't he cute!
We are also deciding whether or not to get these chairs for our dining table - the ones we have came with the table and are all old and rickety - and not terribly attractive.
Jonny really likes these chairs - we just have to decide on what colour.
Im also wanting to have different chairs for the head of the table - just to be a little different. I was thinking about using the wing back chair I have but that may be too big and chunky.
Lastly, the hall way is pretty much complete (it has been for a while I have just been too slack to add pictures).
I bought the poster above for Jonny's birthday but when it came decided it looks much better as a small icon on the computer. So I have ordered the following print.
I ordered it around the same size as the poster in the picture and cannot wait for it to arrive so I can get it framed and put it up. Fingers and toes crossed it arrives soon!

Construction Zone
Because Jon Boy is away at the mines and even before then we are always so time poor the back of our house has resembled a construction zone / storage shed. Its pretty crap but until we get a boost of motivation its probably going to stay that way for a little while longer!
Before we moved in:
After the Jenna and Jonny touch:
This is as far as we have got on my end of the attic... still a fair way to go.
We ripped up the carpet tiles and knocked out a section of the wall... then filled the room with shit we don't have any where for... we have ALOT of shit!
On a side note, if you have a look at most these photos there always seems to be a cat somewhere - its a bit like where's wally!
A Room of My Own
Since we moved in we have gone through a few room mates. Now that we have decided that we had better not have anyone else live with us I was able to convince Jon Boy that the spare room should be turned into a room of my own.

After:
Still undecided as to whether I need more pics on this wall.
I decided to decoupage inside the dresser in Dr Seuss!
This wall needs some art work. Still looking for the perfect piece though.
When I add more to the room I'll add more pics.
