Items for sale

So I have finally completed a few items and put them on my Facebook page to sell:

I still have 4 more bentwood chairs to do up - One is in the process of being painted magenta, I also have one to be painted a baby pink. Still deciding on what colours the others should be at this stage.

Alice in Wonderland

Apart from Interior Design, Renovating etc I love planning parties. My favourite party I planned was an Alice in Wonderland themed party my friend and I organised - just for the sake of having a party. Work was quiet and we were slightly obsessed with the new Alice movie that had come out so we started to plan a Mad Hatters party. We went to a lot of effort with all the details but I think it all paid off!

Everyone drank from tea cups, we had little "drink me" bottles that we had scattered around the table, I made gingerbread men with their heads cut off (in reference to the Queen), I even made flamingo croquet sticks!

In other news I have created a business page on Facebook where I will sell all the items I have done up and or made. Just look up "Sunshine Avenue" on Facebook.

Career Change

In October last year I decided I needed a change - Office work wasn't cutting it! So one day while sitting at my desk looking at interior design blogs I had a crazy idea - I decided I wanted to get into Upholstery. I tried to upholster an old cinema chair earlier in the year and had a lot of fun doing it - the results however were really awful!

So I sent out a letter to all the upholsterers I could find in Brisbane asking if they would take me on. Long story short I got a call to come in and meet a guy, who surprisingly offered me part - time work on the spot!

Since then I have had a lot of fun learning from the 2 guys I work with. They even let me bring my dining chairs into work for them to help me with. I am beyond happy with the end result and hope that soon I will be able to do a lot harder items on my own!

Belated Christmas Post

This Christmas I decided to get crafty - Christmas decorations can be so expensive and our tree and house needed more festive fun in it:

Firstly the Christmas tree needed more decorations so I bought some glass ornaments - I filled half with coloured nail polish to create this effect:

The second lot I put sequins in:

We have never had a wreath on our front door either so I decided this was the year we were going to have one. I just used a round hoop (preferably wire) and strips of fabric which are just knotted onto the hoop. I had a heap of left over fabric from out wreath so I made one for my parents and one for my sister!

Results:

Our piano needed something christmasy on it so I pulled some sticks out of our yard, sprayed them grey and put them in my owl vase with some old Christmas decorations hanging off them.

And lastly - instead of buying gifts for all the family I had a baking day and gave everyone little Christmas goodie bags!

I was a very lucky girl on Christmas day! Jonny gave me this beautiful cushion I have been drooling over since last Christmas - Isn't it beautiful!

BTW: This is our Christmas tree :)
