Master Bedroom

Since moving out of home I always wanted to copy the room I had at mum and dads. It was Indian / Moroccan theme. We decided that this would be the way to go in the master bedroom. It took us approx 5 months to do this room up (we tend to do things slowly!) and have only completed 90%. Once again, I have decided that I don't like it. Something isn't right and I want to start from scratch and ditch having a theme.

Sorry about the dodgy quality of the photos... we haven't had a working digital camera in a while so these were all taken on my phone.

My Weekend of Sewing

I spent most of my weekend behind the sewing machine and in spotlight. I decided that Indy really needed a new bed - he had a really good one (the we spent too much on) only to destroy it when he got bored. Since then he has been sleeping on a crappy, smelly old blanket. So I finally got around to making him a new bed!

He was so excited about getting a new bed that he jumped on it before I even had a chance to cut the fabric.

I think he loves his new bed.

I also made another cushion for the spare room!

Finishing Touches

We still dont have skirting in the lounge, dining and hall areas but we have been slowly filling the blank spaces and slowly changing things.

This is my favourite wall of the house. Took a bit of convincing to get Jon boy to agree to the shelves but finally won him in the end.

One of the flamingo croquet sticks I made for a Mad Hatters Tea Party we had.

Things are slowly coming together but we are getting there.

Painting, Patching and the Semi End Result

So, the following pictures are of us finishing off the loung room (the main parts - mind you we still, after 2 years dont have skirting on!) Looking back there is alot in this room that I would and wouldn't have done. We are slowly adding to it and will change it again probably when we get around to doing the kitchen.

Orange wall was a bad idea... I really think it needs to go.

2 tonnes of concrete

So when we bought the house I insisted that the wall between the dining room and the lounge room had to go. The layout was so wrong and the area needed to be opened up. So a week after we moved in Jon boy started to knock down the wall for me. It took a few weeks - there was 2 tonnes of concrete to get rid of. Alot of dust and alot of mess but we got there in the end!

I didn't take any during photos which looking back now I should have - but it wasn't a pretty picture. Have the inside of the house was blocked off with plastic sheeting and there was dust everywhere.

Here is what it looked like after the wall was knocked out - hole in floor, testing paint colours and starting to take all the rendering off the walls.

Moving In

Here are a few photos that were from the Realestate.com website from when we bought our little house just so you get a little idea of what it was like when we moved in.

The street view - I fell in love with the house when I saw this picture on Realestate.com

Our front deck - great for drinks on a nice sunny day.

The back deck - Where Indy lives!

The weird back room that has been a spare room, storage room, study and where we slept when our room was being done up.

The kitchen - still exactly the same.

The original living room.

The wall that I decided had to be knocked out and if we couldn't do it I didnt want the house!

The spare room.

The grose main bathroom

Main bedroom

Original dining room - this dining table is now the table we use on the deck.

The attic which looks a bit like Noah's ark!

The back bathroom which has become the main bathroom due to the other one leaking.

The original owners seemed to love the colour blue! I how ever am not a fan. I have painted over most of the blue around the house and cannot wait until it is all gone!

The Begining

I have decided that I should start a blog of my own. Everyone else is doing it so how hard can it be.

Everyone keeps asking how the renovations are going so I thought this would be as good a place as any to have all the updates and whats been done so far.

We have lived at Sunshine Ave for 2 years and 8 months. In this time we have knocked down a wall and done up the living / dining room (which im ready to re-do), completed 1 half of the attic (Jon boys half), started my end of the attic, pretty much completed the main bedroom (which I would also like to re-do), finished 90% of the spare room and knocked down a wall in the back room. Alot of work has been done to our little house... but there is still alot to do!

Enjoy!
